FABIOLA BAEZ FLORES

Fabiola Esteisy Báez Flores is an art student at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, where she is pursuing a bachelor's degree in Humanities with a concentration in Painting and Medical Humanities. A graduate of the Miguel A. Juliá Collazo School of Fine Arts in Cayey in 2020, she was awarded the "Outstanding Artist" distinction in her graduating class.

Fabiola has participated in over 20 group exhibitions, theatrical stage designs, and musical performances for the Municipality of Cayey. In 2019, at just 17 years old, she made history as the youngest artist to exhibit at the Puerto Rico Capitol. Additionally, her work has been featured in Ingenios, a peer-reviewed journal at the Río Piedras campus, and she has been part of the University of Puerto Rico's Artist in Training Program (PAAF). She is also a member of the muralist collective "Puerto Rico Grita," composed of resistance artists. Notably, she is engaged in creative scientific research, with her first investigation, titled "The Genetics of Breast Cancer Within the Family Nucleus," conducted under the prestigious Scholar in Residence Program (2021-2022) and sponsored by the American Cancer Society of Puerto Rico.

Báez has received several awards, including the "Outstanding Young Citizen Award" (Aguas Buenas, 2021), and has been teaching art to children since she was 16 years old.

Interview

In 2019, I had the honor of representing the municipality of Cayey in the Capitol of Puerto Rico, making history with our innovative projects and our commitment to the cultural and social progress of our community.
